Latest Project in Progress...

Well here is our latest home improvement project or should I say Damien's! I was trying to help him out but realized I'm really not very good at laying brick pavers for some reason so Damien has been hard at work for a couple weeks extending our retaining wall and getting the area around our entire house ready for rock and shrubs. Over the weekend, however, I found my niche and realized I was pretty good at laying the landscaping plastic down. So I've made my contribution - I think! Now if only we could get our grass to grow decent!!

10 Months Old

10 months old and still a sweetheart! Ashlyn hasn't been up to a whole lot lately, but we have had to start using the baby gate just this week finally. She really gets around with her butt scooting thing still but she does find it a bit quicker to do her army crawl. She goes all over the house that way. She has gotten her 2nd tooth now which made for some middle of the night wakings for about 2 weeks. The last 3 nights though we have been back to more normal sleeping and she hasn't been waking up until 5 or 6 am (still too early for mom but she's an early riser!!). No interest in really walking yet, but that's alright, we're not too interested in chasing yet either :)

Ashlyn LOVES taking a bath!! She is amazed when I turn the faucet on and she has to always turn around and put her hand under the running water. We can't wait until it gets warmer outside so she can go in the pool we got for her. She should love it this summer!

9 Month Pics

Here are a few of the 9 month pictures we had taken a couple weeks ago. Ashlyn did really well and we got a few good ones. We gave her "snuggle bunny" for a couple, which she just loves!

Up in Phillips...

On Sunday and Monday over Memorial weekend we spent some time with the Braun family and Great Grandpa & Grandma Olsen. Ashlyn enjoyed playing outside in the nice weather!! Ashlyn also got to take her first boat ride. Boy did she not have a clue what we were trying to do to her when we put her life jacket on. She couldn't really move after that and she was tired so she took a nap in my arms! She fell asleep within seconds of us taking off from shore.

Ashlyn and cousin Mya were having a good time together as always...they played really well together this weekend and are both getting so big :)

Memorial Weekend in Hayward...

We spent the majority of Memorial weekend up in Hayward by Damien's family. It was a weekend full of fishing for the guys and relaxing for the girls!! As I was busy making a salad one afternoon Ashlyn's aunts decided it would be funny to paint her little toe nails while mom wasn't watching. It's sort of hard to see in the picture but yes, Ashlyn had her toenails painted a light pink! She even sat still while they did it. Now that's amazing!!Ashlyn and Grandma Debbie were enjoying the nice weather out on the deck. Cousin Tyler was playing with Ashlyn and put his hat on her one night. I don't know if she thought it was going to "get" her or what but she sat really still and wouldn't move her head with the hat on. We were all laughing at her and she would only move her eyes and was so serious. She didn't know what to think of that!

1st tooth!

Last night I decided to check to see if I could feel any teeth in Ashlyn's mouth and low and behold I felt the tip of a sharp tooth that must have just popped through (there were none in there this weekend!), which explains her waking up several times Sunday night. She seems to be handling it pretty good so far. She's been drooling a little more than normal, but not too bad and she hasn't been terribly fussy yet! I sure the 2nd tooth will follow soon so we'll see how things go.

Ashlyn has started to really like it when you ask her "How big is Ashlyn?" and then put both of your arms or hers up in the air and say "sooooo big". Well, last night she did it on her own a couple of times when I asked her how big she was. I don't know if it's coincidence or what, but we'll just say she's smart!!

9 months old!

Ashlyn loves jumping whether it's in the jumperoo, exersaucer, or in your arms on your lap. Well, today she was jumping away and pretty soon I look over and she must have gotten a little tired and decided to take a nap right in the jumperoo! Ashlyn turned 9 months old this week. She went to the doctor yesterday for her 9 mth checkup and everything looked good, except for the pinkeye that she caught from another baby at daycare. As you can maybe tell from the pic below her eyes are a bit red and irritated, and she had to leave daycare yesterday and was out today until she has been using her medicated ointment for 24 hours. So mom and Ashlyn have been home the last couple days hanging out! At the doctor she weighed in at 20 lbs and was 18.3 inches long (both in the 75th percentiles for her age). She is army crawling more now but still isn't taking off around the entire house yet. Good thing because we have a bit of baby proofing to do yet!! No teeth have come in yet either but she is still sleeping really good for us. She will go bed at 8 with no issues and sleeps until 5:30 or 6:00. She also goes down for naps really easy too! Over the last week she has begun babbling a lot more as well. She will say ma ma and da da but doesn't know what they mean. It's still cute hearing her say them! :)
